RR-S-550 is a federal specification that covers mechanical sockets for mechanical wire ropes used in rigging, hoisting, towing, stowage, excavating, logging, and slump removing equipment, and marine applications.

Muncy's spelter sockets are dimensionally compliant with RR-S-550.
