NB Buttons

Muncy NB Button Advantage

NB Buttons are similar wire rope terminations to Muncy’s BB, SB and CB. In fact, some wire rope sizes have the same dimensions among the Muncy button lines. A major difference of the SB Button and the NB Button is that a few of the less common sizes (7/32”, 5/16”) have the same after swage outside diameter as similar-sized common sizes (so you don’t need as many dies) and a few difference in some buttons’ over-all lengths.

Muncy Buttons Stops = Made In America
Muncy uses domestic steel from domestic steel mills for its button stops. Better steel means better and more consistent steel properties for swaging. We manufacture these steel ferrules in our facilities in the USA.

SB Buttons

Muncy Uses Premium Steel for its SB Buttons

Muncy specifies material for its buttons stops that is conducive to better swageability and strength. As such, Muncy’s wire rope buttons are time testing, having made for over 50 years. With better swageability comes better die life: less wear on swaging dies.

Muncy Steel Button Ferrule Applications

Carbon Steel Buttons seem to have an eclectic array of product uses, from picking up pipe (with a Muncy Tea Cup) to on a roll-off truck (with a Muncy Roll-off Hook). Some buttons are swaged on cable every few inches for conveyor applications and others used on the end of the rope to be placed inside a drum.

BB Buttons

Muncy’s Newco FS and BB Steel Buttons

Prior to Newco joining Muncy, Muncy’s BB Buttons and Newco’s FS Buttons had essentially the same dimensions. Muncy and Newco both used proprietary grades of steel specially for swaging. Recently, Muncy and Newco’s BB and FS Buttons have been combined into the BB Buttons, so as to not have duplicative part numbers for the same product.

Wire Rope Terminations with Button Ferrules

BB Buttons are a common wire rope end termination. We have made these button stops for decades, servicing the construction, food, farm, trash, marine, industries, to name a few. Often these buttons are swaged onto the end or wire rope or cable and placed on the inside of a drum of a winch line.

CB Buttons

Muncy CB Buttons from Premium Steel Made in USA

Muncy carbon steel buttons (also called “ferrules”, “stops”, “ends”, etc.) are made from a special grade of steel specifically for swaging. Muncy tracks its steel from the mills to make sure mill certifications comply with Muncy specifications and requirements. Among our most important requirement is that the steel is Made In USA, a requirement that goes to quality and Muncy’s dedication to being a domestic supplier.

G Buttons

Muncy G Buttons for OEM Applications

Muncy manufactures and stocks approximately 50 different G Buttons, each with different dimensions. These swaged carbon steel buttons all have various applications throughout the country, including in the fishing, grain and agricultural, food, architectural, construction and marine industries, to name a few.

Muncy Stainless Steel Swage Buttons

Muncy manufactures its stainless steel buttons as standards for both its NB and SB Button dimensions. Stocked in 304 Stainless, 316 and other grades and special dimensions are available on an made-to-order basis. Please call us for availability.

Muncy Stainless Steel Button Swageability

Muncy’s stainless button stops have special chemical and physical properties for swaging. Without our special steel and processes, stainless steel “off the shelf” is prone to inconsistent properties and higher potential for cracking when swaged onto the wire rope.

Logging "LF" Ferrules

Muncy Logging Choker Ferrules

Muncy logging choker ferrules (also known as “pressed” ferrules, “choker” or “chocker” ferrules, “midgets”, “dwarfs”, “knobs” and “nubbins”) are often used in the logging and forestry industry to choke logs in cable logging. Ferrules are often used with Bells, enabling a noose to be formed around the end of a log to be yarded.

Muncy uses a grade of carbon steel specifically for swaging. All steel is Made In USA from American steel mills.

Twist-On "TB" Buttons

Muncy Twist-On Buttons are made of special carbon steel with properties conducive for swaging. The wire rope imprint in the inside diameter of the button enhances the assembly efficiency. When putting the button onto the cable, the ferrule may twist onto the cable with the lays of the wire rope, almost like you are screwing it onto the rope.

Muncy Twist-On™ Buttons are specifically designed for applications that require a smaller than standard swaged button, while maintaining a rating for direct loads. Highly efficient "rifling" on the inside of the rope hole of the precision casting, along with specific metallurgy and heat treatment, yields a product that can achieve both.

Wedge Buttons

Muncy’s Rolog Wedge “quickway ferrules”

Muncy’s Rolog wedge buttons, commonly known as “quickway ferrules” are a great way to terminate wire rope in the field, for winch lines, repairs, all without swaging. The button ferrules are a time tested design, machined from quality steel with a better grain structure than cast buttons. The machined button ferrules make for a great looking part with full material traceability, made in USA.

   

Rolog Poured Buttons

Buttons can be used without the wedges by speltering the rope into the button ferrule using zinc or resin, following the resin manufacturer’s guidelines. This is another way to terminate the cable in the field. Buttons are color-coded for identifcation purposes: silver, blue, pink, maroon, grey, white, black, green, red, cream, yellow, orange.

Rolog Wedge Inserts

Muncy’s Rolog wedge inserts are quality bronze castings made in USA. The material used allows for a better efficiency than aluminum wedges and wedges made using other materials and designs that either lack the optimal tensile strength or proper ductility for this application. Rolog wedge inserts are designed for Rolog buttons only, as they may not fit properly in other button ferrules.
